Experience powerful spiritual and personal growth with the zipline, paintball, the climbing wall, the high swing, team building activities, and the ropes course. Caving is nearby and the area abounds with great hiking opportunities.
Please note: You must make arrangements with the Bonclarken Office for adventure activities at least three weeks prior to your scheduled retreat to ensure availability and staffing.
New Heights Dual Zipline
Test your fortitude with the thrills of the zipline!
Participants climb to a platform where a trained staff member clips them to a zipline pulley. From the platform, there is an exciting ride along the cable that provides an excellent aerial view of our recreation areas. Our new zipline is a dual zipline, so participants can side-by-side zip with a friend. All adventure activities are conducted with the utmost attention to safety. All necessary equipment such as harnesses, carabineers, lobster claw clips, helmets, and ropes are provided, managed, fitted, and set up by our trained and experienced staff.
* Minimum requirements: 8 years of age and must be able to fit into our harnesses- NO special rigging can be allowed. Individuals weighing more than 250 lbs. and women who are pregnant may not participate in the zipline due to safety concerns.
Paintball
Enjoy adrenaline-packed fun on our wooded paintball course!
Participants play on two teams of up to 5 people each in an exciting game of last man standing. Bonclarken provides extensive safety orientation; paintball markers (guns) and paintballs appropriate for use on our course; and protective equipment including full face masks.
* Minimum age: 12 years. Participants must wear long pants, hiking or tennis shoes - expect clothes to get very dirty. Outside equipment and paint is not permitted
Climbing Tower
Try out rock climbing on our 45-foot tower!
Participants have the option to scale a climbing wall with options ranging from very easy (mouseholes) to very challenging. All adventure activities are conducted with the utmost attention to safety. All necessary equipment such as harnesses, carabineers, helmets, and ropes are provided, managed, fitted, and set up by our trained and experienced staff.
* Minimum age: 6 years. Participants must be able to fit into our harnesses- NO special rigging can be allowed.
High Swing
Defy gravity as you tumble through the air in the High Swing!
Participants climb a cargo net to a platform where a trained staff member clips them to the steel cable swing. After stepping off the platform, there is an exciting drop followed by 2-3 minutes of giant swings. All adventure activities are conducted with the utmost attention to safety. All necessary equipment such as harnesses, carabineers, lobster claw clips, helmets, and ropes are provided, managed, fitted, and set up by our trained and experienced staff.
* Minimum requirements: 10 years and 5 feet tall. Participants must be able to fit into our harnesses- NO special rigging can be allowed.
Ropes Course
You’ll love the excitement of traversing this challenge course!
Participants climb 45 feet off the ground to explore two levels of challenging ropes elements including a Burma bridge, trolleys, a vine traverse, a catwalk, and an hourglass element. All adventure activities are conducted with the utmost attention to safety. All necessary equipment such as harnesses, carabineers, lobster claw clips, helmets, and ropes are provided, managed, fitted, and set up by our trained and experienced staff.
* Minimum requirements: 12 years and 5 feet tall. Participants must be able to fit into our harnesses- NO special rigging can be allowed.
Leap of Faith
This 20-foot climb requires a leap of faith to reach the bottom!
Participants climb a 20 foot telephone pole and leap to tag a hanging element before being gently lowered to the ground. All adventure activities are conducted with the utmost attention to safety. All necessary equipment such as harnesses, carabineers, helmets, and ropes are provided, managed, fitted, and set up by our trained and experienced staff.
* Minimum requirements: 8 years and must be able to fit into our harnesses- NO special rigging can be allowed.
Caving
Go on an exciting and educational spelunking adventure!
Participants enter the cave via a 15-foot ladder and explore the main chamber and its nooks and crannies. Those who desire a challenge have the option to brave a tight squeeze. All adventure activities are conducted with the utmost attention to safety. All necessary equipment such as flashlights and helmets are provided. No experience with caving is necessary.
* Minimum requirements: 10 years of age; must be able to hike up and down hills and climb up and down ladders. Group size must be limited to 15 participants total, including adult chaperones, due to the size of the cave.(Participants must wear long pants, long sleeve shirts, hiking or tennis shoes - expect clothes to get very dirty)
Indoor Challenge Elements
The indoor challenge elements are generally only available to groups who have already reserved the Youth Activity Building and have scheduled these activities in advance.
Participants may challenge the Dangle Duo (two participants work together to climb what looks like a giant ladder); the Cat Climb (participants scale a rope using vertical blocks); the Flying Squirrel (the participant is attached to the end of a rope via a harness and is hoisted aloft by the efforts of the rest of the group pulling, minimum of 8 participants); the indoor giant swing**; and the indoor climbing wall. All adventure activities are conducted with the utmost attention to safety. All necessary equipment such as harnesses, carabineers, helmets, and ropes are provided, managed, fitted and set up by our trained and experienced staff.
* Minimum requirements: 8 years of age and must be able to fit into our harnesses- NO special rigging can be allowed.
** For safety reasons, there is a weight limit of 250 lbs. for the indoor swing.
