This year’s “See the Leaves” experience will begin with dinner at Bonclarken, then a short trip to the Flat Rock playhouse to see a showing of Smoke on the Mountain. This play features bluegrass, gospel, faith and family set right here in the Blue Ridge Mountains in 1938.  It follows the Sanders family Saturday night Gospel sing at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. On Thursday our trip will include transportation to the Cherokee area where we will visit the museum of the Cherokee Indian. After lunch, we will visit the Oconaluftee Indian village. This living history village will take you back to the 18th century, with craft demonstrations by artists who will explain their unique crafting techniques. You will also meet other Cherokee villagers as they describe their life and customs  on the edge of war. Our day will end with another scenic drive back to Bonclarken where dinner will be waiting for us.

On Friday after breakfast you will have an opportunity to tour the Heidelberg House at Bonclarken, which will  conclude our event.

Costs, including all meals, fees and tickets, are as follows:

$325 per person Single Occupancy

$278 per person Double Occupancy
